This often results in messy situations when an event actually occurs.<\/p>\n<p>Schools should be prepared for an exceptional event to happen on any given day, although proper preparation does not entail a state of continuous alert. Knowing that these events could happen is enough to grasp the importance of proper preparation.<\/p>\n<p><strong>An exceptional event:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>is out of the ordinary.<\/li>\n<li>disrupts everyday life.<\/li>\n<li>affects many people.<\/li>\n<li>engages multiple stakeholders.<\/li>\n<li>is subject to media coverage.<\/li>\n<li>is complex.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Even if the event meets only a few of these criteria, it is still an exceptional event.<\/p>\n<p><strong>An exceptional event is not:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>an event in an individual\u2019s personal life which has no collective impact.<\/li>\n<li>internal to a single family with no impact on the school community.<\/li>\n<li>an event which, for specific reasons, must remain confidential and managed in a limited manner.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The app cannot be used for such an event.
